Westmoreland SP Virginia

Well I worked around the house for several days and needed a vacation. We decided to go to Westmoreland state park on what is called the Northern Neck of Virginia. It is about 2 hours away.

We decided to take Logan on his first camping trip. I also wanted to do some swimming in the Olympic size pool. Suzette want to do a little kayaking. Well the pool was closed because lightning had caused the pump to go out, rats.

We did take an evening guided kayak tour to fossil beach and searched for shark teeth among other treasures. Other than the kayak tour we took a few walks around the area as well as drive through all the camping and cabin areas.

One of the hikes with Logan took us to fossil beach and the yellow swamp. Logan liked the beach and frolicked in the waves, not very deep. He wanted to bite the wave caps as they came ashore.

To the left is a dolomite cliff as seen from Fossil beach. Below is the beach near the pool area.

We took a trip on Thursday which was our rainy day and visited George Washington's birth place. We also visited Colonial Beach which was devastated by Isabel 2 years ago. The area looked very good however one of our seafood restaurants, The Happy Clam, was never rebuilt. The Osprey, left, were on pilings at the restaurant location.

Sounds like fun. Great pics.

Phoebe would probably do the same thing with the wave caps. She likes biting at water. We haven't taken her to the coast yet, but will soon, I hope.

Happy Clam has reopened (along with other restaurants and shops.) Happy Clam is now on the bay side (beautiful sunsets) at 11 Monroe Bay Ave. Enjoy!
