Commercial parks have lots of amenities but we seldom take advantage of them so State Parks and Corps of Engineer parks work better for us. Also the Golden Age Passport get us 1/2 price camping at the Corps parks.
We have found the Virginia and Georgia state parks to be very nice. While Myakka River State Park does not represent all of Florida's state parks, the sites were crowded and the interior campground road was dusty gravel.
On Kerr Lake/Reservoir we think the Rudd's Creek and Staunton River Virginia State Park are the best choices.
The new truck preformed very well and we consistently got 13+- mpg while towing and about 17 mpg around town. I think the average price for diesel was about $2.79 with Florida having the highest prices. Often the diesel price was close to or less than the mid range gas price. So I think the diesel was a good choice.
We will make another post for our pictures or perhaps make a album on another site and put a link in a post here.
It's good to be home.
